Just Another Friday

I haven't posted anything in a while so I took some pictures this morning when we were going to babysit at the Callahans'. It was foggy and dark this morning and you can tell that Mya was not excited to get up. Both Mya and Keegan have been sick this week and all they want to do is watch tv and sleep which has made my job pretty easy.

Rockets Game

.

Gerald's Houston Rockets Gear

THE BEAR

When we decided to move to Houston one of the things that Gerald really wanted to do was go to a Houston Rockets game. It was a good date for Gerald and I because we left the kids with some friends of ours. It was a good rivalry game against Dallas and we were ahead most of the game. Dallas came back to win it in the last minute of the fourth quarter. We had lots of fun. They planted people in the audience to keep the crowd into the game. The bear mascott came up to our section and got us in a yelling match against another section. They also did the regular give-aways and prizes during half time and timeouts. There was a Dallas fan that got caked by the mascott when they were trying to recognize a long time season holder on her birthday and he wouldn't sit down. He got really mad and walked out after that and we didn't see him again.

Petting Zoo

I thought that it would be fun to show a video of the kids in the petting zoo. They gave the kids a brush and let them brush the fur. Obviously, that was Mya's favorite part.

Houston Zoo

We had a big day today. We went and spent some time at the Houston Zoo. We weren't able to see everything in one day so we are going to have to go again sometime. There was so many things to do. One of Mya's favorite things was the elephants. He ran right up to the cage and started talking to the elephants. It was fun because there was a baby elephant that Mya liked. One of Mya's favorite exhibits was the garaffs. There were four of them and one of them wasn't caged. He just hung out around the other three that were in his own little grass patch. The picture of Mya in the bubble was fun. They had an exhibit where you could climb under the prairie dogs and poke you head up so that you were eye level with them. Mya was hesitant at first but ended up getting talked into it with some friends that we went with. Keegan climbed into the tunnel but wouldn't stand up to get his picture taken because he was afraid he was going to bump his head. Overall we all had a great time and now we are tired. Keegan and Mya are taking a nap because of all the walking they did today.

Craft Time

I take about an hour during the day to do crafts with the kids. Today I went and got some princess stamps for Mya to play with during craft time. She had such a good time. Some of the other things that we do are paints, paper bag puppets and we also do seasonal crafts. Keegan feels left out and I try and help him, but most of the time he just sits and colors with a crayon.

Ring Around the Rosie

Here is a clip of the kids playing ring around the rosie. Sometimes they do it together like in this clip, but a lot of the time they just spin around in circles by themselves while I sing the song. My family has been asking me for more clips and I thought this one would be fun.

Just a Note

I was talking to my brother last night and he was giving me a hard time about not posting anything in the blog for a while. When I looked at it, I noticed that Sara had challenged me to post six things about me and I would like to include some facts about our family so that I can fill all six of them. I've been tagged!

Here are the rules: Player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves. At the end of the post, player then tags 6 people and posts their names. Then player goes to their blog and posts a comment telling them that they have been tagged and asking them to read player's blog for rules

1. We are all tired of living in an apartment. The kids go crazy because they don't have any place to really run around. We do have a fairly large patio, but Keegan has started throwing things off of it and so that has to be monitored. Gerald and I do not like hauling groceries up three flights of stairs. I guess we were spoiled in Rexburg with our townhouse. Hopefully we will be able to buy a house in the next year. To have a backyard where the kids can run around would be great!

2. Our kids are growing up really fast. I can't believe that Mya is three and a half and Keegan is almost eighteen months. It feels just like yesterday when Mya was born. There are some advantages of them getting older. Mya will be starting preschool next year. I am excited about that. It will be good for her to be around other kids her age during the day. Keegan is going into nursery in two weeks. Gerald is excited about that because he takes care of him during Sunday school and priesthood while I teach my primary class. They are a joy to have in our family and we love them lots.

3. We like it in Houston. When we first came here it was above 100 degrees and very hot and muggy. We were not so sure of our move and if we could really handle the change in temperature from Idaho. Now the weather is the best and we spend a lot of time outdoors, Everyone in Idaho is complaining about the cold and we are still in our shorts. Another thing about Houston we are excited about is the Houston Rockets games that we can go to. Professional sports was one thing that Gerald missed when we lived in Rexburg.

4. Keegan is learning to talk. It is exciting to see him grow and develop. The way that he says hi with so much enthusiasm is funny to me. It is probably the only word that you can recognize when he speaks. It is good to have Mya because she talks to him all the time and encourages him to speak and use new words every day.

5. Gerald is a great teacher. He really connects with the kids in his classroom. He spends a lot of time preparing for his classes and I know that it is going to make a difference in those kids lives.

6. I love being a mom. It is great to be able to wake up and know that I can spend the day with Mya and Keegan. It is fun to plan activities for them and teach them about the gospel. Mya loves to read and is always asking me to read books. When Gerald gets home she likes to read the scriptures with him. There are some difficult days, but I love the challenge. I love being the constant person in their lives and it is so fulfilling to see them grow and develop.

I am going to tag Tina, Rachelle, and Reece. I don't know six people with blogs so three is going to have to do.

The Park

I only had a half a day watching the boys on Friday so we had some free time. We went over and played at the park for a while. One of Mya's favorite things to do at the park is to play on the swings. Keegan just likes to climb up and down the stairs. Once in a while he gets brave a goes down a slide. We are loving the warm weather here in Houston. We are not missing the snow and cold in Idaho yet.
